Welcome

Ashford Town Bowls Club has been around since 1908, and is always happy to meet and welcome new members of any age or ability.

Bowls is a sport that anyone can take up. It is a sport where you can learn the basics very quickly, and then you have the rest of your bowling career to master your performance.

The idea of the game in a nutshell is to get close to a little white ball called a jack, by using a bowl which is shaped so that it takes a curved path to the jack.

The bowls club is situated in Vicarage Lane, opposite the large car park, with parking for a few cars at the rear of the club.

Part of the present club house consists of an old railway carriage dating back to around 1890, a relic from Ashford's thriving carriage and wagon works back in 1850.

We are a very friendly club with a good mixture of players ranging from the age of eight to over eighty. The outdoor season runs from the 18th April (2026), which is our opening day, through to the middle of September.

If you want to try out the game you can turn up on our open day 9th May from 2pm or contact the club membership secretary (Dave) on 07853 786762 who can arrange for you to have a go.

We do have qualified coaches to teach you all the rules of the game and some of our more experienced bowlers will always lend a hand.

Do give bowls a go! You will meet new people, get a bit of exercise, gain new skills and most of all have a lot of fun.
